Comox Valley artist, Gail Lewis, has spent most of her life following her passion of creating. Using a combination of skills she has acquired over the years, she creates one of a kind Santa and elf sculptures that have to be seen to be believed: so life-like in appearance, they quickly steal the hearts of those who stop to look and marvel at all the tiny details.

Each piece is one of a kind, individually hand-sculpted: no molds are used. Gail has been fortunate to study under the direction of some prominent artists from different parts of the world that have helped to encourage and enhance her artistic abilities.

 

Inspired by her love of vintage Christmas, she uses mainly vintage recycled fabrics, furs and trims, as well as vintage sleighs and toys, to bring authenticity and an old-world feel to her characters. She often turns something as simple as a vintage kid-leather glove into a wonderful toy for Santa. Using vintage music or scrapbook paper, Gail crafts tiny books and scrolls to be part of Santa’s treasures. This combination of the unique bits and pieces she collects and the ability to transform them into tiny treasures for Santa is what gives each piece its soul and character.
